Now you’ve got Hup, Steph and Frank (the Pug)

I have no idea why it’s taken us so long to post about the greatest thing to happen to our relationship since Trader Joes Hummus, but I guess that we’ve been so busy lately that we just haven’t been able to give Frank, our new Pug, the proper introduction that he so much deserves.

If you’ve been following our blog for a while you’ve probably read something about Frank the Pug and how he’s been something that Stephanie has wanted ever since she saw the original Frank the Pug in the Men In Black movies (which was like 7 years ago). We’ve also posted about her Frank infatuation a few times and we even came close to buying Frank from a shady Pug breeder that Stephanie found on Craigslist while I was in Austin, TX. We’re SO  happy that we didn’t do that.

Anyways, I’m not 100% sure how Stephanie found the woman that we bought Frank (who was previously named Ricardo) from , but she ended up being one of the nicest and most genuine people that we’ve ever met and she loved Frank so much that she broke down crying when she eventually sold him to us. That day was about 2 weeks ago and it’s been pretty amazing to see how quick Frank has become part of our family. At 6 months old, he’s still just a puppy, but before leaving for this vacation he was already getting really close to being potty-trained (he’s definitely had his fair share of accidents) and crate-trained (I slept with one of my arms in his crate one night with him so he would stay in there). He’s tested our patience a little bit, but overall he has been such an amazing addition to our lives.

We’ll be updating more on Frank here soon (like the fact that he actually walks to work with me every day), so be sure to keep on checking back with us. But, before I go I wanted to leave you all Frank fun, so enjoy.

Me and Frank have a little fun before bedtime

It’s about time for an update, don’t ya think?

Hey everybody!  Our apologies for the lack of posts recently.  Things have been mighty hectic out here in San Francisco recently, so now that I have a few minutes while sitting in the airport, I thought I would write up a little update.

And now for the past two weeks… by bullet

I’m on my way back home for the week to do a litte bit (actually A LOT) of wedding planning.  I have a meeting set up for every single day, but I’m certainly hoping to fill in some extra slots with some much needed friends and family time.  Unfortunately, Frank coud not join Ryan and I for the trip but he’s soaking up the good life at my co-teacher’s house for the week.  I told him he was just going to puppy day camp and that he would have the time of his life.  So far it seems to be the case :)

That’s about it for the updates… I’ll keep you all posted on the wedding planning.  Oh, and one more thing, we obviously did not make the Today Show wedding….. oh well…. we’ll have more fun at our own wedding anyway right?!

Ugh…Sick Days…

Yikes, it’s been a rough couple of days for me…

It all started Sunday morning, when I started to feel a little off.  That yucky feeling led to some chills, a fever, nausea, and some other gross things that are related to these symptoms (not fun at all).  I’m typically a healthy person.  I rarely get sick and if I do, it’s just a minor cold or something that is totally manageable.  Certainly not the stop me in my tracks and put me up in bed completely stationary for 3 days kind of sick that I am now.  I’m miserable, and it is only until just now that I’m able to keep my head up long enough to post a short blog about my condition.  I’m begging for sympathy here people, I’m on my death bed.  Luckily I have an amazing fiance’ that has been by my side, nursing me back to health. He’s truly amazing, and I love him more every day :)

All sickness and pity aside, I’m glad that it’s finally seeming to clear up a bit.  Hopefully I’ll be back to work tomorrow.  Since I have a little extra time on my hands today I’ll fill you all in on a bit of news I’ve been meaning to break to you.  It’s sad news, but it’s for the best and it’s always important to find the best in any situation, right?

Unfortunately, Ryan and I will not be welcoming our little Frank into our home as we had expected.  It’s really a strange situation on how it all came about, but basically the breeder that we were buying Frank from turned out to be a bit untrustworthy, and we felt it best to simply ask for our money back.  I felt like I was giving up my baby, and it was a terribly tough decision to make, but I knew it was for the best.  I’d much rather find my Frank from somebody that I trust, or better yet, find Frank from a shelter and rescue him out of a bad situation and bring him into a wonderful home where he’ll be loved and cherished.

My original plans were to go to a rescue anyway, so I should probably follow through with that.  I just wanted to get the news out there.  So, although we won’t have a little Frank pitter pattering around within the next couple of days, he will be around soon, and it will be a better situation than what we were looking at previously.  I’ve waited almost 7 years for my baby, I suppose I can wait a bit longer.

The introduction of Frank

I left the office about 30 minutes early yesterday so that Stephanie and I could go visit the newest member of our family, Frank. As I made it home to our cottage and walked in the door, all of the lights were off and Stephanie was just sitting on the coach browsing Facebook. Unlike the giddy, over-the-top excited, “I’m about to go visit my baaaaby!!” Stephanie that I was expecting to greet me when I walked in, I was greeted by a very subtle “hey…” when I stepped foot into the dim-lit living room by a somewhat disappointed, “something isn’t right here” Stephanie.

“Gabe didn’t answer his phone and momma isn’t happy that she can’t go see her baby! (growl)”, is the first thing she said when I shut the door and asked her why we were all of a sudden saving electricity by not turning on the lights. Gabe is the owner of Frank’s momma, a Pug who had 6 beautiful puppies about 3 weeks ago, and he was supposed to let us stop by so that we could see what our baby was up to, but Stephanie couldn’t get a hold of him. I think that she literally left him like 6 or 7 voicemails in a matter of 15 minutes. Needless to say, momma definitely wasn’t happy.

But, Gabe did end up calling back and we took a family trip down to see Frank in San Jose around 9:30pm last night. It was the first time that I had seen Frank and Stephanie’s first time to really see him now that he’s up and moving around like a real dog. We hung out with Frank for an hour or so and got in some real solid bonding time. I took some video of the action, so feel free to see how Frank’s doing, too. I think at this stage it’s safe to say that Frank sounds like Gizmo the Gremlin, which I’m hoping he’ll eventually grow out of.

p.s. Frank’s the runt, but don’t hold that against him. It just makes us love him that much more. :)

All Steph wants for Christmas is Frank

As far as relationships go, Stephanie is really low maintenance. Personally, I think that this is a compliment and it says that she is confident with who she is, is comfortable with our relationship and isn’t the slight bit materialistic – unless we’re of course talking about one of the following things:

  1. Cool Whip/Reddi-Whip
  2. Shoes/Purses
  3. Frank

The first two are obviously self-explanatory, she just loves her some Reddi-Whip, shoes and purses (what woman doesn’t?).

The third one is a little more complicated, as it sounds as if she’d like to have a middle-aged man hanging around the place. But, the story behind Frank goes way back to when Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones were putting the smack down on some aliens in the Men In Black movies. Frank had a smaller part in the movies, but it was still enough to make Stephanie fall in love with him.

You see, Frank is a fawn-colored (white) pug and Stephanie has been madly in love with him ever since.

The pug that started Steph’s obsession

So, as Christmas gets closer, all Stephanie has talked about is how great me and Frank would look in our matching Christmas sweaters and how much Frank would have loved helping decorate our tree and all of the other things that Frank would be excited about doing around this time of year.

Simply put, Stephanie is obsessed with Frank (pugs).

I mean, I guess they are kinda cute, aren’t they? (don’t tell her I said that)

I guess that I would consider this cute
